Abstract

Despite the extensive body of literature on entrepreneurship education and its strong influence on entrepreneurial intentions, relatively few studies have examined its impact on university students’ sustainable behavior. In particular, limited attention has been paid to the role of social entrepreneurship education (SEE) in fostering sustainable behaviors among higher education students. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study investigates the mediating role of social entrepreneurial intention (SEI) and the moderating roles of value-based leadership (VBL) and civic engagement (CE) in the relationship between SEE and sustainable behavior (SB). Using survey data from 340 university students in south Punjab, Pakistan, the findings demonstrate that SEI significantly mediates the relationship between SEE and SB. Furthermore, VBL positively moderates the link between SEE and SEI, while CE strengthens the association between SEI and SB. The study discusses important theoretical contributions and practical implications for higher education institutions and policymakers, alongside directions for future research.
